Jill and Alex - Wedding

by Joe Lemke in

Wedding season is coming up quickly!  I have my first wedding of 2013 on May 4th.  There are a bunch of weddings that I shot last year that I never blogged because I have been in the process of redesigning my website and blog.  I'm determined to blog them.

Jill and Alex's wedding was a great time.  The bride and groom are one of those types of couples that have so much fun together that everyone around them has a great time.  Their wedding was no exception to that.  Also, it meant a lot to me to shoot the wedding because I have known Jill since I was four years old.  We were in the same kindergarten class together and we graduated together.  How cool is it that I got to be the one taking pictures of her and Alex (who I also graduated with) on their big day?  Pretty, pretty cool.

The wedding was at St. John Vianney church In South St. Paul, Minnesota and the reception was at Tartan Park Golf Course

Augustana Acoustic Tour

by Joe Lemke in

One of my favorite bands came to Minneapolis on 01/14/2013 at the Varsity Theater. I first started listening to Augustana in 2005. I met them at their show when they played the (no longer exsistant) Ascot Room. After that they blew up and had an album go double platinum. I think I have photographed them about ten different times but it never seems to get old. They have this old soul feel to them that is timeless and that many bands don't have. This time Augustana came to play acoustic with just Daniel Layus and David Lamoureux.  It was super intimate and they killed it.  It was like listening to a vinyl in concert form.

I hungout with Dan and David for a few minutes after the show in their green room and got a couple of cool shots of them and got to catch up a bit.  If they come to your town, I HIGHLY recommend seeing them.

A Little Girl With A BIG Personality

by Joe Lemke in

Children are one of my favorite subjects to photograph.  There are many reasons I love to work with kids.  They have this innocence about them that adults usually have out grown.  Many of them, also, have such big personalities.  If you let them do what they like to do during a shoot, you get great pictures.

These photos are of Kendall.  Princess Kendall is what she wanted me to call her! haha.

I wish I had a picture of it, but when we first arrived to do the shoot, I was walking backwars and fell off the curb. Super embarrassing.  Kendall and her family, and my girlfriend Lydia thought I was just trying to break the ice with her.  I actually slipped and fell.  She, of course, thought it was super funny.  I did too after the shame went a way a little.  So, PRO TIP:  If you would like to win over a future first-grader, slip and fall and get hurt.  :-)

Anyways, this little girl is awesome.  Super sweet and a little fiesty at times.  I think I really captured her entire personality in these photos.  Enjoy.
